Traditional Roofing Tools That Never Get Old
There is no doubt it's a smart decision to hire a professional roofer to remove, install or maintain a roof. But with a little bit of time and research
(and maybe a few friends), it can be a realistic do it yourself project. We recently discussed the five essential roofing tools for the DIYer. In
this post, we will go over traditional roofing tools that never get old. Professional roofers and DIYers alike get much use out the tools below.
Slate Cutters
Slate cutters do just what the name implies - cuts slate and shingles. This handy tool slices through most roofing materials like a hot knife through
butter. The AJC slate cutter can cut slates up to 5/16” thick! The
nail punch is made from hardened tool steel and the blade is made from alloy steel.
Ridge Bucket
Instead of throwing the shingles to the ground, which requires a constant trek to the dangerous roof edge, consider a ridge bucket. These buckets hug the
roof so they won't slip even when it's super steep. It's much safer and easier to use a ridge bucket to dispose of materials.
Use a magnetic sweeper to gather up fallen debris on the ground. Stepping on a nail could really hurt someone! The AJC Rolling Magnetic Sweeper combines powerful magnets,
quality workmanship and a quick release design. This handy tool is a fan favorite!
Seaming Pliers
Seaming pliers
are used for yanking shingles, especially stubborn shingles that seem to have a mind of their own intent on staying in place. Seaming pliers include flat
teeth to grip the shingle without tearing it. Combine the pliers with a good pair of thick work gloves to save your fingers and hands from injuries such as
scrapes, bruises and blisters from gripping and pulling rough shingles.
Roofing Hatchet
Roofing hatchets can be used for removing an old roof as well as installing the new roof. The AJC Mag-Hatch™ Roofing Hatchet even has a
strong magnet located in the striking face. Don't worry about it going to waste after the project, it's also a handy every day hammer!
